Fahad Kanoo, SBU Board Member of The Kanoo Group, the regional Grove dealer in the Middle East, travelled to Europe to share success with the Niella Tanaro factory in Italy, where "Crane of the Year' is assembled.
Grove's GRT8100 was named 'Crane of the Year' at an awards ceremony staged in Dubai this past June by Construction Machinery Middle East (CMME). CMME is one of the leading publications for the heavy machinery sector in the Middle East. Its annual Construction Machinery Middle East Awards saw 13,000 people voting across 20 categories to select the region's best and most popular machinery brands.
Kanoo Machinery, a leading equipment supplier in the Middle East and a long-time Grove dealer, understands the benefits of the GRT8100 better than most. The company has delivered multiple GRT8100 cranes across the region in recent years.
Fahad Kanoo, said: "The Middle East is a diverse landscape that includes deserts, mountains, large urban centers and sprawling industrial sites. Yet the Grove GRT8100 can handle any challenge. It's compact, strong, and offers some of the best off-road capabilities, making it ideal for all projects. We are proud to offer customers such an impressive unit in the Middle East; this award is well deserved."
Grove rough-terrain cranes have many features that customers in the Middle East appreciate. These include heavy-duty tires, powerful engines and advanced cooling systems, enabling them to operate reliably in even the most extreme weather conditions or job sites.
Andrew Youssef, general manager for Manitowoc covering Middle East, Africa, and CIS, said: "We're thrilled the Grove GRT8100 was selected for the first time to win such a prestigious award in the Middle East, and we wanted to share the success with our fantastic production team at the factory. Every day, the team engineers and manufactures the best rough-terrain cranes. This award is a testament to them for championing the Middle East and Africa region with world-class products. Without the Niella team, this award would not be possible, and feedback and recognition from the industry only inspire us to do even more. Our colleagues in Italy were just as excited as we were to receive this award."
Manitowoc is the world's most celebrated maker of crawler cranes. Its cranes have remained at the top of the lifting world for a century, and Manitowoc continues to deliver technological breakthroughs that enhance load charts, increase efficiency, improve transport, simplify erections and earn owners’ exceptional returns on their investments. With so much innovation at its core, it's no wonder "Manitowoc" is synonymous with crawler cranes.
More than 60 GRT8100 cranes are working in the Middle East alone.
The Manitowoc team and The Kanoo Group SBU Board Member Fahad Kanoo flew to Niella Tanaro to congratulate the maker on making the GRT8100 a success in the Middle East.
The Grove GRT8100 is a 100t capacity crane capable of reaching up to 73 m when utilizing its maximum 47 m, five-section main boom, with a full complement of boom extension and insert options. It features the Manitowoc Crane Control System (CCS) with its user-friendly interface. There's also a tilting cab and impressive load charts, while extensive component testing ensures excellent reliability. The crane is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7L engine that delivers strong line pull, powerful hoisting capability and impressive lifting performance.
At the end of 2022, the GRT8100 upgraded to GRT8100-1 in the Grove rough-terrain crane line. This exciting upgrade features the same impressive 360° load charts as its predecessor, maintaining the exact overall dimensions, counterweight and five-section, 12 - 47 m full-power MEGAFORM® boom. However, with the new chassis on the 100t capacity GRT8100-1, customers can integrate the highly flexible MAXbase variable position outrigger system, which offers up to 15% capacity improvements in specific configurations.
MAXbase also simplifies setup on congested job sites, with the four hydraulically telescoping outriggers extended over symmetric and asymmetric positions. Also new to the outrigger design is an auto-level feature for easy job site setup and Manitowoc's smart, length-sensing Outrigger Monitoring System (OMS).
