Middle
East Container Repair Company (LLC)
The Company was established in 1981 after his
Highness the Ruler of Dubai gave his permission for
a container repair facility in Port Rashid, Dubai.
In 1994 MECRC opened its second workshop in Mina Zayed,
Abu Dhabi and in early 2001 opened its third workshop
in Jebel Ali, Dubai. The Company is owned by a combination
of prominent businessmen, principal shipping agents
and an international shipping line.
Since first opening in 1981 the Company has built
on its original skills and the facilities that can
be offered to clients. An example of this is the
fact that MECRC was the first Company in the Middle
East to have IICL certified inspectors. Numerous
persons having passed since 1990 and at the present
time we have 6 employees who are IICL certified,
some for the second time.
All container inspections and repairs are carried
out to International Standards and materials used
are to the industry specifications, e.g. Corten
/ SPA - H specification steel for body parts and
wood treated to meet Australian T.C.T. requirements.
In Port Rashid and Jebel Ali Ports the Inspection
Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
in order to process customer containers quickly.
Inspectors are trained to IICL, Union and the other
standards required by the various Shipping Lines.
For reefer service we have been appointed the local
Depots for Carrier Transicold, Themo King Corp;
Mitsubishi, Daikin and Seacold. P.T.I.s, Pre-cools,
and cleaning as well as all normal repairs are carried
out in the workshops. Re-foaming of reefer insulation
is also carried out in the structural workshops.
There are 4 mobile units to attend to reefer repairs
throughout the UAE.
The Company has mechanics to service, maintain
and repair both its' own hire fleet and customer
reefer gensets.
Apart from competitive rates for high standard
repairs, other advantages we have are, we utilize
the waiting time of the container in the Port to
carry out customer requirements and save possible
future down time. Also, because we are located adjacent
or close to the Container Terminals, transport costs
are nil, or at least minimized. In addition to this,
MECRC do not normally charge for lifts, either in
or out.
For container handling the Company has four Empty
Container Handlers fitted with hydraulic spreaders
and 3 forklifts with wide carriages and extra long
forks.
Twistlocks and lashing equipment are also held
in stock and in addition fabrication and modifications
of containers are also carried out for the local
market.
Container movements are monitored daily by computer
and our accounts and operations are also computerized
and all services and facilities offered to clients
are the same or similar in each workshop.
